Getting started

Fill the grid with the numbers 1 to 9. Each row, column and 3 × 3 box must contain every number exactly once. The starting numbers are fixed.

Tap an empty cell, then a number. You can also enable number-first input in Settings to select a number before tapping cells.

• Free play: start a new puzzle at your chosen difficulty.
• Every day: solve the daily challenge or return to earlier challenges in the calendar.
• Journey: explore 25 stages and collect keepsakes.
• Monthly event: complete a series of 10 puzzles and collect a medal.

Solo puzzles work offline and do not require an account. Choose from Quick, Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert and Master. Quick uses simpler deductions; it is not a time limit.

Hints, notes and assistance

• Notes: write small candidate numbers in a cell. Tap a candidate again to remove it.
• Erase and Undo: clear your entry or go back one action.
• Hint: first look at the highlighted area, then read the explanation. You choose whether to apply the suggested step.
• Assistance: fill empty notes, clean up impossible candidates or show live candidates. Note changes can be undone. Focus digit and Trail help you follow a logical deduction.

The learning library includes five interactive lessons: observation, naked singles, hidden singles, locked candidates and naked pairs.

On some older puzzles, a supported logical step may not be available. If a hint uses the verified solution instead, the app explicitly tells you.

Saved games and progress

Your games save automatically on your iPhone. Pause or return to the home screen, then resume when you are ready. Each mode keeps its own current game, including notes and progress. Starting another game in the same mode may replace the previous one after confirmation.

Solo puzzles do not sync between iPhones. A paired Apple Watch can receive a progress summary and Poulpi’s appearance.

Do not uninstall the app to troubleshoot a saved game. Deleting the app removes its local data. Copies in iPhone backups depend on your Apple settings.

Playing with friends

Friend battle supports two to four players with separate Game Center accounts and a network connection.

1. Open Friend battle from the home screen and choose Invite my friends.
2. Accept the invitation on the other devices.
3. Each player selects Ready.
4. The host chooses the difficulty and starts the round.

Hints are not available during a battle. If an invitation does not arrive, check Game Center sign-in and the network connection on each device.

Private invitation rooms use iCloud. Check that you are signed in to iCloud if a room is unavailable. An invitation expires after ten minutes; send a new one if needed. Solo play remains available.

Poulpi stickers

Open Poulpi’s sticker gallery in the app to browse all 24 illustrations. In Messages, look for Lisa Stickers in the apps or stickers drawer.

To use them in WhatsApp, choose Add to WhatsApp in the gallery and confirm the import in WhatsApp. WhatsApp must be installed.

Make yourself comfortable

Settings lets you choose the Sunshine, Night or Paper theme, change the language and adjust sounds, gentle music, haptics and the animated background. Music is off by default.

You can hide the timer and adjust the game’s assistance. The iOS Reduce Motion setting limits movement and effects. Audio pauses when the game is paused or in the background and respects your iPhone’s silent mode.

Under Settings → Playtest report, you can turn off local activity counters, clear the report or choose to share it. Nothing is sent automatically.

Troubleshooting

A number will not appear

Check that the cell can be edited, that the game is not paused and that Notes mode is off if you want to enter a final number. Close any open hint to return to the grid controls.

I cannot hear sounds or music

Check the app’s audio settings, device volume, silent mode and connected headphones. Music may pause when another app is playing audio.

Poulpi or the scenery is not moving

Check the animated background option and iOS Reduce Motion. Animations also pause when the screen is inactive or a panel covers the game.

A saved game will not load

The app keeps an unreadable save and stops overwriting it to protect your progress. Keep the app installed, note the exact message and contact us.
